Poe Dam Radial Gate Modifications
Project
Design, fabrication, and implementation of leading-edge technologies
Poe Dam is a concrete gravity diversion dam on the North Fork Feather River, just north of Lake Oroville. This was a multi-year project that involved designing and fabricating an innovative needle beam cofferdam, modifying the five existing dam pier noses, and performing modifications to the four existing radial gates over the course of seven years. The project started as a Design/Build contract for the upstream cofferdam, downstream cofferdam, and a dewatering system; and included supporting PG&E in developing the “Project Description” used for permit acquisitions and other agency approvals. As Syblon Reid’s involvement and support evolved, the owner asked us to provide proposals to perform all the work associated with the modifications to each of the four radial gates.
